I started working at a dive shop. The employer put me through a course, because how can i sell something that i know nothing about!
I was a bit scared at first, cause before this i didn't even swim at the beach.
Love it now.
Doing around 100 - 150 dives a year.

Because I like fish, the sea and ladies wearing rubber. I also get a kick out of introducing people to a sport which I think gives regular folks some insight into the problems that the ocean, which our planet primarily consists of, is currently facing.

I dive because I could not imagine life without diving. On average 4-6 times a week, if not more. I dive because there is no other place where I feel as comfortable and relaxed as I do underwater - no worries about presenting an image or behaving the right way. All that matters is you and the most amazing part of the planet that so few people are aware of. I dive because there is always something interesting to see. Always something amazing to remind me how miraculous life on our planet is, and how so many amazingly different things can function together in one system.

Whether it's for relaxation, teaching, excitement, hunting, photography, exploring or admiring the view, I have yet to find a dive where I have failed to be moved by something I've seen done or experienced.

People who dive understand intrinsically WHY. People who don't won't ever know for themselves until they try it.

Well growing up in San Diego Calif you have miles and miles of beaches and the whole Pacific Ocean at your door step. So being a water nut i started out Surfing then i got into Sport Fishing big time which i still do only when i go out to San Diego to see my folks since now i live in the Mid West.
I have to say the Sportfishing is what got me going into the diving. I wanted to see for my self what the hell was below me. So in 1973 i was open water certified thru NAUI and did most of my diving at La Jolla Cove and did a few dives off Sunset Cliffs area of Point Loma.
In 1978 i moved out to the Chicago area and back then scuba diving out here was not as big as it is now so i kind of gave it up but always kept it in the back of my mind to do it again. My wife always told me that some day i should get back into Scuba Diving again. Well that happened as you know from looking at my profile in 2004.So everytime i see new people at the LDS buying gear for a class or a class making ther first certification dives at the Quarry i think back to two year s ago thinking that was me and i wounder what made them get into Scuba Diving.
