FINALLY!!

I have always wanted to see a hammerhead on a dive and up until now I have not had the opportunity.

On a dive at Protea Banks this weekend saw one on the way up to the safety stop, stayed around us for a minute or so and then swam off. What a beautiful animal! Sorry bout the pic quality I had to grab the camera off one of my students and the settings were all messed up.

You have always wanted to dive Sipadan? What has been stopping you? :) Apparently they do get schools of hammerheads in Sipadan. Not quite sure which time of year tho.

Anyways, one of my big great dreams is to dive with mantas. May be looking to go to Sangalaki (Indonesia, much to the south of Sipadan)... apparently even from Malaysia, it takes almost whole day to get there.. flight, land, boat, overnight somewhere then boat again...

By the way, you do have great pictures! Great macros! Which digital camera do you use? I envy Nikon coolpix users, it takes really awesome macros. (Maybe I can gun down one and grab his/her camera!) Am using a Sony P10...

Hey! I use a Cannon EOS 300D with an Ikelite Housing.

Sipidan is on the list :) I just need to sort out finances and time. I am looking at organising a 3 month long holiday and going to Palau, Spidan and Malaysia

Mantas are one of my favourites too! Luckily see lots of them at Aliwal Shoal or Sodwana :)
