15/7/2006 - Fijian Fish #1 - Siganus uspi, 1974

Bi-Colour Rabbitfish.
This little fellow is very dark blue, almost black, with a yellow tail and Good Gogglers know it was given its Latin name by researchers at Suva's University of the South Pacific (... U.S.P... uspi... geddit?!). A few stragglers show up in New Caledonia but these occur in large numbers in Fiji waters and are generally classed as endemics, almost always observed in pairs, as with other rabbitfish.
