1/7/2006 - Cthunder to White Rock

Posted in Reefs

If rigid inflatables were cars then Cthunder would be a Ferrari. Or maybe a Subaru Impreza WRX. Either way she goes like shit off a shovel. She's got two 250 horse power outboard engines and easily does 35 knots at 3200rpm. I asked the skipper if he had ever had her flat out and he said yes, she'd done almost 60 knots and no, he wouldn't do it again because it scared him.

We went out to White Rock today, an isolated limestone outcrop which is home to lots of seabirds, covered in poop and surrounded by some really nice coral reef.

I took a few pictures but the only one I'm putting up is this one as it's by far the best shark picture I've taken so far. This one came round two or three times so I got more than one chance.

Just don't get eaten. I don't know about Kris, your friendsand your male relatives, but I think I can speak for your female kin when I say that your godmother, your mother, your grandmother and your aunts would miss you.

Your God kids would miss you too, although Jake thinks it would be quite cool to be eaten by a shark. Perhaps you could humour him by letting them have a little nibble?

Sorry Rick, I got that wrong. Clearly at least one of your aunts would throw you to the sharks personally if she thought that would amuse her children.

5/7/2006 - That shark...

... is not the ancient megladon but about 3 feet long and eats squids, octopi and other wiggly things. Not people. They spend most of the day lying on the sea floor.
