Tae Baker - Wet and Dry

4/7/2006 - The First Liveaboard Checklist

This time tomorrow I will be en route to Bundaberg to set sail on my first ever liveaboard. While it is only 3 days long the anal retentitiveness (now that is a pain to spell) that prevades in me is running strong.

3 days, you would think I would just get my dive kit out, chuck in some extra batteries (for the torch thankyou!) some bathers, a spare towel, PJ's and sunscreen.... Well you would think.

I was on the phone to a friend of mine last night who was asking me if I was ready to go (read packed). When I said "nope" she couldn't believe it. She reminded me that for my Christmas holidays just past, I started writing out my packing list MONTHS in advance and I was actually packed 3 days before I flew out. Mind you - all that prep and I still forgot a number of items.

For some reason, I am just not in uber anal mode. I am going shopping tonight to get some last minute things - like half a kilo of seasickness tablets and a 5l container of water (Now that I write that out loud - so to speak- I am actually going to call a buddy who went on this trip 3 months ago and see if I need to take my own water). I figure that since it is only a couple of days, I can certainly handle missing a couple of things - but I am sure I will still overpack the necessities.

And what are the necessities?

Chocolate

Champas

Seasickness tabs

ummm

ummm

Dive gear?

Maybe there just isnt that much to forget to start with?

take some corn chips and salsa - great for taking away the dry mouth thing, if you do get seasick (and if you don't, eat them with your champa's! :-) )

Borrowed a book from one of the guys at work and just got back from Coles with Corn Chips and Salsa.
I did just remember I forgot shampoo and tampons, but thankfully I did a whip around the office and got a stack *just in case*
Pick up is any moment - waiting for the moby to ring telling me to run downstairs with my gear.
See you next week
Tae
