4/7/2006 - The First Liveaboard Checklist
This time tomorrow I will be en route to Bundaberg to set sail on my first ever liveaboard. While it is only 3 days long the anal retentitiveness (now that is a pain to spell) that prevades in me is running strong.
3 days, you would think I would just get my dive kit out, chuck in some extra batteries (for the torch thankyou!) some bathers, a spare towel, PJ's and sunscreen.... Well you would think.
I was on the phone to a friend of mine last night who was asking me if I was ready to go (read packed). When I said "nope" she couldn't believe it. She reminded me that for my Christmas holidays just past, I started writing out my packing list MONTHS in advance and I was actually packed 3 days before I flew out. Mind you - all that prep and I still forgot a number of items.
For some reason, I am just not in uber anal mode. I am going shopping tonight to get some last minute things - like half a kilo of seasickness tablets and a 5l container of water (Now that I write that out loud - so to speak- I am actually going to call a buddy who went on this trip 3 months ago and see if I need to take my own water). I figure that since it is only a couple of days, I can certainly handle missing a couple of things - but I am sure I will still overpack the necessities.
And what are the necessities?
Chocolate
Champas
Seasickness tabs
ummm
ummm
Dive gear?
Maybe there just isnt that much to forget to start with?
