11/24/2005 - Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

I try to celebrate the major holidays, and the minor ones by diving. Today I drove up to Malibu in search of the Hilton's Aeolid nudibranch. I saw my first one there last month and really wanted to get a better picture to add to my previous blog entry. I didn't find one, but did manage to get some lousy pictures of a Polyclad flatworm, Lingcod and Guitarfish. My friend Susan went home with a heavy bag full of the strangest looking turkeys I've ever seen. Red, exoskeleton and nothing but legs and antennae everywhere. They looked more like cockroaches to me. I hope she enjoys them.

It was foggy most of the drive up there, but traffic was light, a rariety for the 405 freeway near Los Angeles International Airport. By the time I got to Nicholas Canyon Beach it was clear, sunny and very warm. Ah, November in SoCal. I talked to a couple and their four year old son, who was collecting shells on the beach. They were fascinated by Susan's lobsters...I mean turkeys. On the way home, the 405 was back to its regular crawl. Now I get to wash my gear and try to figure out why I can't get a decent picture any more. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
