Wreckreational Diving

11/6/2005 - One Down, Hundreds To Go

I joined Susan and Frank O'Donnell for an early morning dive in Malibu this morning. The surge was constant and it stirred up the sediments quite a bit, but we still had 15-20 feet vis on the outer kelp bed. There were lots of nudis and lobsters, but strangely I didn't see one Garibaldi. I found my first Hilton's Aeolid nudibranch. It was at the top of my list of need-to-find nudis. Unfortunately, the surge prevented me from getting any good shots. That, and my lack of photography skills.

Hopefully, Frank got some better shots. He is an excellent photographer. Susan was able to take home dinner for her sister's birthday, although I had to take her cute little undersize lobster back to the water and set it free. Her gauge must be a little off.

Now I need to get back there for more dives and find that nudi again. It can't be too hard. It only took me nearly 1100 dives to find one.
