2/28/2009 - Get Back To Where You Once Belonged...

Get back to where you once belonged...
After eight weeks in foot rehab I finally made it back in the water this morning. I hobbled over the cobble into the flat water at Marineland and it was like the good old days.

My old friends came out to greet me.

Well, the undersea friends did. I dropped near the statue and found it had capsized. It was laying in a pile of silt, so it must have been horizontal all week. I placed it back in its perch and removed the rock and dead Gorgonian from the bucket, then headed around the pinnacles, visiting the rockfish and nudibranchs that make diving the Point so enjoyable.
Hopkin's Rose, Hermissendas and Yellow-edged Cadlinas were laying eggs as if preparing for Easter. I stayed too long at the pinnacles, so I didn't have time for much photography.
I swam past the large batray that always seems to be in the same spot, fed Abby and then made my way back to the beach.
Walking out of the water was a bit painful, especially after stepping on an uneven rock. I made it into six inches of water before getting hurt.
