1/24/2007 - Cupcake Dive At Veteran's Park

Merry likes to refer to easy, mellow dives as cupcakes. Tonight was a great example. Captain Patrick Smith joined us for a beach dive...yes, you read that correctly. We descended into 25 feet of vis, no surge and mating squid. Merry got to experience her first seal bombs thanks to a squid boat just outside King Harbor. We headed back uphill to find dozens of Dendronotus frondosus nudibranchs laying eggs. There were also mating crabs here and there. There was so much mating going on that when Merry talked about Pat making it a threesome I gave her a funny look.
