4/16/2006 - Easter Services At Marineland

Easter Jeff showed up, but didn't lay any eggs...fortunately. The ocean cooperated with us today, allowing Merry to make her first entry at the Point. She followed me into the water and didn't get killed, so it was a good entry. We dropped down right next to a Swell shark napping under a rock.

We then headed down toward the end of the reef to look for Dendronotus iris again. For the third dive in a row, we were successful. This one was climbing up a tube anemone, it's favorite prey. Due to the depth and the 49F water, we didn't stay to watch.

We found the usual animals including two large octopus, plus a Mexichromis porterae

Flabellina trilineata

and a fuzzy bunnyfish

A tailgate party followed in the parking lot with hot dogs, brownies, chocolate cake, candy and plenty of liquid refreshments. Merry and I left after a couple hours and the crowd was still pretty large. Don't these people have anything better to do than have fun on the weekends?
