3/14/2006 - Cure for Insomnia
I haven't been able to sleep much for the past couple weeks. This morning I overslept by more than three hours! It felt so good to get eight hours sleep for a change. I called work and took a vacation day, then headed over to Marineland. Where else would I go on a day off? I checked out the conditions and it was much improved over Sunday. I geared up and headed down the trail. Halfway there, one of my socks fell off my foot. Rather than removing all my gear and drysuit, I decided to just dive with it off. The water was 51F. By the end of the dive, my right foot was pretty numb. I'll wear longer socks from now on.
I entered from in front of the cave and looked for my weightbelt that was ditched Sunday. I didn't find it, so I made the short swim toward the East reef. I don't dive here much because it only holds about 10% of the life found on the Main reef. I did manage to find enough to keep me happy for 51 minutes. There was no surge and the vis was OK. I found a couple lobsters and octopus, plus a small number of nudis. I also found a lost dog. He/she is beautiful, well fed, obedient and without a collar. If you lost it, or just love friendly dogs, it can be found in the parking lot.
I looked for the weightbelt some more at the end of the dive with no success. Until I find it, I'll be using the one Evil Jeff loaned me. It's bright Lime Green and matches my drysuit. :) Hilary would love it!
