H2Andy's (Excellent) Underwater Journey Through Reef and Cave v1.2.06

9/10/2005 - Two At Orange Grove

Posted in Personal Diving

two dives at Orange Grove (cave) with Madeline, from Scubaboard.

both dives went smoothly.  Orange Grove is part of the Peacock

system.

everytime i go into a cave it looks slightly different.  sometimes

not so slightly.  different visibility level, different position in

the tunnel, different height off the floor, different nooks and

crannies...  it's like a new experience every dive.

and coming out, it's like a totally different cave.  you could never

get bored diving a cave (well, i couldn't).

tunnel at Orange Grove cave.  in places, the ceiling is no

more than four or five feet from the floor, less in others.

the floor is particulalry silty, so it's a tricky cave for beginners.

there is a passage, best revealed on the way out.  as you come back,

the tunnel narrows and there are two man-size openings, sort of like

sockets in a skull.  the one to the right leads down, to the exit, and then

turns left and slightly upward.  there, tucked away in the wall, is a niche

that i could easily see holding a saint's image, flowers, and a candle

(if it weren't in a flooded, pitch-dark tunnel)

it's one of those places that surprise you on every dive.
