my wife and i love seahorses, so it's always a treat for me to find

one and take a half-decent picture, because i know she will oooh and

ahhh about it for quite a while.

unfortunately, they are tricky critters to photograph with my

camera (a stock Cannon SD-110 with internal flash).  if i get

too close to them, the pic comes out blurry.  if i get too far away,

the flash doesn't work and the pic comes out blue and hazy.

anyway... here are some pics of seahorses i've taken in

the past.  hope you enjoy.  these are not good pics, just the

best i could do under the circumstances.

Seahorses are notable among fish in that it's the male who gets

pregnant.  the pregnancy lasts from two to three weeks.  seahorses

are also monogamous.

So the male gets pregnant... and he IS monogamus.

Gosh: I'm so happy I'm not a Sea Horse!

In my next life, I wanna come back as a female sea horse...

then I can have lots and lots of kids (sea ponies???) and my husband can do all the hard work of labor and child birth.
